Three modestly sized round taillights were placed on each side of the Impala and the nostril air intakes above the headlights were deleted entirely. With more than 490,000 Impalas produced for 1960, compared to nearly 60,000 built in its debut year, the Impala may have featured more chrome than Bel Airs or Biscaynes but it seemed to work in its favor as it was America's No. 1 seller. The 1960s model had a white band running along the rear fender along with nonfunctional air intake scoops and the slogan, 'Space, Spirit, Splendor'. Leading the Impala lineup at $2,847 was the Convertible Coupe, followed by the Hardtop Sport Sedan, Sport Coupe, and Four-Door ...

The nation was entering the exciting post World War II era, and after four long years of war, the American people, especially the veterans, were looking forward to new opportunities in the world's greatest country. There was no better way to put the past behind them and to look to the future than with new lines of America's favorite form of transportation: cars and light trucks. Post-war automobiles followed a little more than a year after the new trucks. 1953 Last year for the 216ci engine. On a 115-inch wheelbase, it sat squarely between the compact Chevy II and the full-size line. Upright in style and conventional in engineering, the A-bodied 1964 Chevrolet Chevelle was closer in size and shape to the "classic" 1955-1957 Chevys - and a response to Ford's recently introduced Fairlane. Curved side glass was one of its few special features, but a Chevelle was nearly as roomy as an Impala. Chevelles came in two series: 300 and fancier Malibu. Sales started off strong, suggesting that Americans might be developing a taste for compromise in car size. Chevelles were billed as "a good foot shorter and a few inches narrower than the big ...

It was the division's most expensive car at $2,707 except for the two-seater Corvette. Chevy sold just 7,886 for 1956, the second of three years the car was produced. Following the phenomenal success of the 1955 models, Chevrolet created an equally successful lineup for 1956. The Nomad was fittingly part of the top-of-the-line Bel Air series which sported more chrome and bright trim along with full carpets, dual sunvisors and an electric clock among its extras. This 1956 Nomad VIN# VC56B101200 is a fresh home restoration that was done at a very high level of quality. The odometer shows 70,747 miles, but the consigner claims there's less than 5 miles ...
